JSMAA APPROVED NON-CLUB POINTS
2011/2012
The 4-H SMAA Commitee approved the following list of activities a 4-Her may participate in to earn the non-club points required to sell their animal at the 4-H SMAA/Junior Market Livestock Auction. Events not listed will not be counted as non-club points unless pre-approved by the 4-H SMAA Committee.
1. Attending 4-H SMAA Annual Meeting (Oct. 19, 2011)
2. Attending Fall Awards (October 26, 2011)
3. Attend Steer Selection Clinic 101 (if one is held)
4. Attend MSU Beef, Rabbit, Poultry, Goat Showing Events at MSU. 1 point only!
5. 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Team-Contact Kyle Fiebig, Montague High School FFA Instructor
6. Attend an Oceana County Nutrition Clinic for Beef
7. Participate at Folk Festival (April 26, 2012)
8. Mason County Beef Showmanship Clinic-1 point only! (May 13, 2012)
9. Participate at County-wide Bake Sale (1 hour minimum participation at the bake sale location to earn point and you must also bring a baked good) (May 5, 2012)
10. Attend Oceana County 4-H Market Livestock Beef Clinic
11. Attend 4-Star Beef Club Hoof Trimming Clinic
12. Attend Michigan State University Exploration Days (June 20-22, 2012)
13. Participate in Relay for Life in Whitehall Area-call office for approval
14. Decorating float for an Oceana County parade to promote 4-H
15. Participate in the Oceana 4-H Section or Oceana Grangers Section Highway Pickup (participants under the age of 12 must have 1 adult present per child) those 11 and under can participate in the Community Service Activity that may be planned in conjunction with Adopt A Highway Pickup
16. Participate/Help at the Youth Council Yard Sale/Back Salve to benefit Crystal Valley Care Fund. (1 hour minimum participation and baked good if working the bake sale)
17. Visiting other judging events at Muskegon, Newaygo or Mason County Fairs. (Must notify Oceana MSU Extension Office with plans to attend-1 point only)!
18. Attend Kettunen Center Animal Science Weekend
19. Earn Points from Superintendents or Extension Staff
20. Attend another 4-H Small Market Livestock Club Meeting. Must be a beef, rabbit, poultry or goat club. You may attend a different species club meeting-Limit 1 point!
21. Work with Montague FFA on variety of Community Events (including 4-H Building Watch at the Oceana County Fair) organized through Mr. Kyle Fiebig, Montague FFA Instructor.
22. Attend one Marketing Meeting-(required of all NEW SMAA/JR Market/Large Market animal project members, current members may attend) -1 point
23. Work at the St.Jude’s fundraiser put on by the Holladays’ (10/15/2011)
24. Claybanks Township Cemetery Rake Clean Up (April 28, 2012 from 9:00a.m.-noon Contact Brenda Eilers 893-7808) Bring your own Rakes!
